Thurrock Tree Cutting: All Trees Taken Covered
Our Thurrock tree cutting work comprises a range of tree species and sizes. Whether your trees are situated on public land, in a residential garden, on business premises or somewhere hazardous like a railway line or riverbank, the specialists at T.H. Tree Services possess the knowledge and experience needed to handle them.
Over the past 15 years we have dealt with probably every species of tree. Our knowhow concerning when and how to undertake tree cutting with correct methods means you can have total peace of mind that your tree will remain in the best of health.
These some of the trees we regularly work on across Thurrock and surrounding areas:
- Oak – all types including English or common oak, sessile oak and holm oak
- Willow – including willows situated on the banks of bodies of water – it is often helpful to carefully trim back willow trees to allow people to enjoy the shade beneath them. It also allows more light to penetrate and makes it easier to maintain the grounds surrounding them.
- Ash – if we detect any symptoms of ash dieback or any other disease this tree is susceptible to during tree cutting, we will let you know our recommended plan of action.
- Fruit trees – such as pear, plum, cherry and apple. Fruit trees require regular, expert pruning to help them cultivate a robust branch structure. This allows them to easily support their heavy fruit crops.
- Conifers and pines – such as yew, cedar and Leyland cypress, all renowned for growing to towering heights of up to 100 metres. Again, thanks to our experience, knowhow and purpose designed equipment, this is no problem for our experts.
- Thorny trees and spiky trees – including hawthorn, holly and monkey puzzle – often tree cutting companies will avoid cutting back trees that pose a natural hazard, but not us!
- Eucalyptus trees – all varieties including the tallest which can grow to 30 high. The cider gum tree is one of the most common found in abundance along the Essex coast.
- Beech trees – even if your beech tree has reached a towering height of 30 or 40 metres with a wide canopy, we can handle it. Regular pruning is beneficial for the beech tree as it helps it maintain its leaves year-round.
- Other deciduous and evergreen trees – such as silver birch, hornbeam, lime, maple, sycamore, rowan, elm, whitebeam, spindle and aspen and all ornamental and flowering trees including lilac, magnolia, false acacia (Robinia) and bay laurel.
If you need to identify a tree, our Tree ID pages should prove very useful.
Common diseases affecting trees in Thurrock
When we undertake Thurrock tree cutting, we always check the tree for any signs of disease or decay that could be weakening the branches or affecting the health of the tree.
Some tree species are more prone to disease and pest infestations than others. Diseases such as ash dieback, chestnut blight, Dutch elm disease and oak decline are some of the most common, but there are many more. We’ll always be on the lookout for diseases, fungi and pest infestations.
If you are concerned that your tree is suffering from disease or could be infested with pests, our guide to common tree diseases and pests should prove helpful and you can always get in touch if you require tailored advice.
Tree Cutting Thurrock: Getting the Timing Right
There are particular times of year when tree cutting should be avoided.
Firstly, it is not permitted to prune any tree during the bird nesting season which runs from February to August. This rule applies to non-emergency tree cutting work only.
Secondly, it is advised against undertaking tree cutting during the active growing season, which is in most cases late spring to early winter. This is because, during the active growing season, trees bleed sap when cut. This attracts bugs which bring disease. Again, emergency tree cutting can be carried out at any time, but where possible try to leave it until late winter to early spring, in most cases.
We say in most cases and this is because some tree species vary from this general rule. Ensure you consult our news and tree ID pages for guidance on when to prune your tree, or contact us for tailored advice.
If your tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) then the tree cutting allowed will be restricted and you will require permission from your local authority to go ahead which may take anything up to eight weeks to come through.
