Identifying Great Wakering Tree Workers you can Trust

You’ve no doubt received a flurry of leaflets through your letterbox in recent years advertising local tree worker services. Be careful though, because unless specified, these leaflets are usually advertising general, unqualified garden labourers.

You need to be sure that you’re hiring a company with the relevant qualifications and insurance. Tree workers who are properly qualified will be able to show you a checkable list of qualifications, which will leave you with the peace of mind that they can safely and efficiently deal with trees of every species and size, as well as the likes of hazardous situations.

Qualified tree workers will also be able to show you their insurance documents and testimonials of their experience, which should cover a number of years. On top of this, you can also ask to see proof of compliance with associated regulators.

This is important because most tree work is undertaken under hazardous conditions. For example, trees can reach great heights, or can be located in difficult places – such as on the banks of bodies of water or close to overhead power lines – or may line a public road or right of way. As such, qualified tree workers – or tree surgeons – will have the necessary skills to deal with these situations safely and without incident.

Experienced Tree Workers Great Wakering

Our experienced Great Wakering tree workers are all qualified to N.P.T.C. and LANTRA standards, which are the industry’s standard certifications, and proof that a tree surgeon has at least the minimum standard required to work well on your trees.

In actual fact, we hold TEN different N.P.T.C. qualifications in addition to TWO LANTRA qualifications. Our team of tree workers all go through regular refresher courses to ensure that their skills are up to date, too.

We also comply with British Standard BS 3998 2010 as well as the associated legislation, such as Work at Height Regulations, Act, the Manual Handling Operations, and Health and Safety at Work, for example, and we’re proud to have an untarnished record in all of them.

The Popular Services we offer as Great Wakering Tree Workers

Looking for experienced Great Wakering tree workers? Here are some of our popular services:

Tree Pollarding: If you have a tree which is situated near overhead cables or are close to public highways need to have their canopies maintained. The best way of doing this is pollarding. We carry out this service for local authorities, private land owners and estate mangers alike.

Crown Reduction: If you need the size of your tree’s crown reduced, then this is the service you’ll require. It’s beneficial because it increases light and air flow to the tree and to the ground below so that other plants and grass can thrive.

Dead Wood Pruning: Trees naturally form dead wood as they grow. It needs to be removed on a regular basis so that it doesn’t fall and injure someone, or damage property. Furthermore, if dead wood has been produced because of disease or pest infestations, we will formulate a treatment plan.

Tree Removal: Hazardous or diseased trees that cannot be salvaged may need to be removed. Other causes for tree removal are when their roots are posing issues or if a tree is preventing access. Tree removal involves working at height, so it is imperative that it is only undertaken by a professional with the relevant qualifications, equipment and insurance.

Specialist Services Offered by our Tree Workers in Great Wakering

On top of the more common tree worker services offered above, we also offer specialist services, which our qualifications, expertise and many years’ experience allow us to carry out. These include hedge trimming and hedge removal; ivy trimming and removal; bamboo removal and the removal of storm damaged trees.

Being able to work with both native and non-native species is important if you require specialist tree work carried out. All of our Great Wakering tree workers have extensive knowhow across all species.

For example, did you know that the oak tree and the Leyland cypress can grow to heights of 40 metres? Or that the willow tree will usually be located on the banks of a river or lake? And the likes of the eucalyptus tree and the cherry tree require specialist pruning, so it’s important to get it right?

These are just a few of the tree species we care for. We have a comprehensive range of useful tree ID pages and other resources which will help you to identify your own particular trees to work out the best time to prune them and the best route for their care.

The Importance of Timing with Tree Pruning

On top of being able to discover more with our news and tree ID pages, our Great Wakering tree workers will always provide helpful guidance on the best time to prune your tree.

It’s important to avoid the active growing season when tree pruning. This is usually between late spring and early winter. Avoiding this season will mean that the sap won’t bleed to the same extent; bleeding sap attracts bugs, which can bring disease. The best pruning seasons and methods does vary between tree species, so it’s important to study our resources o contact us for expert advice.

Further to this, any non-emergency tree work is not allowed during the bird nesting season, which runs from February to August in the UK. You should always check for nesting birds before carrying out any work, even outside of this period. Emergency tree work is still allowed during this time, and this includes the removal of dangerous branches or disease treatment.

Tree Preservation Orders: What you Need to Know

Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) may be applied as protection to trees of notable interest. These trees will require permission before being worked on, and this can take up to eight weeks to be granted. Similarly, if your tree is located in a conservation area, you’ll also need permission for any tree work.

Our Great Wakering tree workers have developed strong relationships over the years with the local authority tree officers. This often gives us an advantageous position when getting your tree work authorised as efficiently as possible.

Common Tree Diseases Explained

Certain tree species are more susceptible to disease and pest than others. Ash dieback, chestnut blight, Dutch elm disease and oak decline are the most commonly known tree diseases, but there are many more which we have a great wealth of knowledge and experience of.
