Experience Counts for Everything: How to Check the Background of your Tree Services Company
There is no substitute for long term experience in any trade. Valuable lessons are learnt on the job, and they all stand you in good stead for situations that arise. Experience allows you to deal quickly, efficiently and effectively with any occurrence. It means you can offer true value for money.
But how do you go about checking just how experienced your chosen trader is? How can you tell if what a company is claiming as their ‘established’ background is actually true? After all, it is easy for companies to make such claims on their websites. The good news is that with a few checks, you can verify whether what people are saying is in fact the truth.
Website Age
The first way to check how long a business has been around is to find out their website age. This is easily done by paying a visit to the Whois website. Here’s the link: http://whois.domaintools.com.
All you need to do is enter the domain name and click to reveal the date the website was created, and who the registered owner is. There’s plenty of other useful information too.
Of course, this doesn’t tell you how long the company has been trading, but at least it shows you how long they have been on the web.
Social Media Background
Next up, social media. Take a look at the company’s Facebook page and Twitter account, and you will instantly see how long it’s been set up. Also take note of how many likes and followers these platforms have as these are also a very good indicator of how long the company has been around. It takes a long time to build up a decent following, although you should be aware that followers can be bought so bear this in mind. The good news is though that the social platforms are well onto fake likes and followers, and are clamping down. So if you see a page’s following drop, it could well be because they have been rumbled.
An internet search using Google or one of the other search engines will also reveal plenty of information, including information that the company may not necessarily want you to see. Try a search for ‘xxx company name reviews’ for an insight into what people are saying. Of course, you need to exercise discretion again, never forgetting that some companies are cunning enough to pay for good reviews.
Company Check
If a business is registered as a limited company or limited liability partnership then you can look it up on the Companies House website. General searches are free, but if you want to find out more in-depth information, you can pay to do so. Here is the link: http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo.
In Summary
Experience spells investment and reputation. Do what you can to verify it and always seek it out. It will make all the difference when it comes to the quality and value for money of the service you receive.
