How Do I Remove Bamboo Roots

How Do I Remove Bamboo Roots & Rhizomes?

Find Out “How Do I Remove Bamboo Roots, Including Rhizomes?”

We often get asked this question “How do I remove bamboo roots” and it required a layered approach. Bamboo is a very hardy plant which can persist even after being cut down to the ground. You may find it can spread into neighbouring properties and cause concern if planted near to paths, houses etc.

We have successfully removed bamboo groves and their roots/Rhizomes across Essex, London & Kent. We do advise that with such a virulent plant, we cannot guarantee it won’t re grow, or that we can remove 100% of it.

We will be honest when quoting and offer the best plan of action to ensure it is beaten. We can only remove the roots and stems that are visible, you may find the problem is larger than first thought, this might only be apparent after we have removed all the visible roots and stems.

We will offer an initial removal service and offer a competitive re-visit should any regrowth occur.

Is Bamboo Root & Rhizome Removal Expensive?

When we price bamboo removal it is an estimated price, this is because many unseen factors can increase time and costs. Such as irrigation systems, electrical wiring, pipes, concrete and many more obstructions that might not be visible when estimating the works.

We can also price per half day or full day, this gives great value for money for the customer. Our half day and full day prices only include the removal of the work requested and does not allow the customer to add additional works on top. That would incur further costs.

We are open and honest with our customers, it is extremely difficult to offer fixed prices for bamboo removal due to the fact there are so many unknown factors that might be in play.

What is a Rhizome?

A rhizome is a modified plant stem which grows horizontally underneath the soil. It can sprout new shoots along its length from nodes. Rhizome comes from the Greek word Rhizome, which means a mass of roots.

They are very tough and require specialist skills and tools to remove.

Poisoning Bamboo Roots, Does It Work?

Yes, poisoning bamboo can kill off the stems when you apply the correct poison, however, the subsoil roots can persist and regrow. Poison is also toxic and should only be considered as a last resort. We cannot guarantee it will kill the bamboo. Even if poisoning is successful you will still have the dead plant or grove left in situ.

Stump Grinding Bamboo Roots, Does It Work?

Yes, we have found great success in removing bamboo roots using our specialist bamboo stump removal machine. With a stump removal machine there is no toxic poison left in the soil and we remove as much sub soil root system as our machines can access. We cannot guarantee our machine will remove 100% of the bamboo roots. We then sift out any larger pieces of bamoo, root or rhizomes and dispose of them.

Using Hand Tools & Manual Labour To Remove Bamboo

This is the most time consuming method, tho more often than not, the most used service. Reasons such as narrow access and garden furniture can hinder larger machines. T.H Tree Services have developed and acquired specialist hand tools which increase our productivity in manually removing bamboo plants, groves, roots & rhizomes.

Using An Excavator To Remove Bamboo Roots, Does It Work?

Yes an excavator can dig out the entire root system and then it can be disposed of. This is only viable where access permits and customer are OK with a mini digger traversing their garden. It is ultimately the very best way to remove bamboo roots, It does increases the overall cost.
