Why we purchased The BlackVue DR650S 2 Channel Dash cams!

One of our company Tree Surgery vehicles was unfortunatly dented whilst parked in a car park in Essex recently. No note was left as you would expect!. Due to the high cost of insurance excess fees its unlikely we would repair it via our insurance provider, leaving a direct cost to the company. A dash cam may have caught the guity party and provided evidence to put that cost onto the offender.

We checked many competing devices but believed the BlackVue DR650S 2 channel dash cams offered the best all round performance. Parking Mode Lukas 290 Settings

When the ignition is switched off and you leave the vehicle is the time the dash cam ideally needs to record. This requires a Lukas 290 module. We have it hardwired into the trucks harness.

We set the Lukas 290 to 12v and to switch off after reaching 12.4v. The trucks are covered by our company HD CCTV when parked at night so its not that important when parked over night. For that reason we decided to have the parking mode on for less time or to switch off before it depletes the truck battery too much. Over cautious, tho better than a dead battery. We do have two large batterys in the trucks tho, so its unlikely to turn off over night as the trucks are in constant use daily, providing enough recharge.

The extras!

The BlackVue DR650S comes with GPS and an app. We are able to track where the vehicles been and the speeds the vehicle was doing, this is a great feature for companies who send employees out in the trucks.

It has two way voice communications, you can talk to the driver from the app and vice versa, not one we would use but handy in the event of mobile failure on the drivers part.

The Cloud Feature

All footage is stored in the cloud and on the device, in the event of theft the footage remains secured and accesible!.

The DR650S is BlackVues flagship model in the UK market and comes with cloud services, when the device connects to our home wifi or hotspot we are able to access the device via the cloud app. It offers live veiwing from mobile devices and voice communications, plus access to GPS location. You can also view this information using a direct wifi connection from your mobile device to the DR650S.

From our experience of this product we feel its the best dashcam on the market overall. This is just our personal opinion, tho the device has provided very good quality footage and so far it has worked exactly as we expected. Only time will tell if the unit is reliable and lasts for a few years.
